ANGELS AND ANCESTORS: Spirit Animal - Blue Jay

Neat.
For the last couple years a small flock (3) of Blue Jays would come to visit every fall. This year just one arrived. He stopped by my kitchen window to look right at me and then in the morning as hubby was leaving he flew right by us at the front door.

What a beautiful bird.

Nature is magic

I have tossed and tumbled with the idea of moving out of this Provence for a couple years now. We have dreamed of the East Coast, fantasized about the West Coast and pondered Ontario's smaller rural communities. Of course our roots in both business and home life keeps my little family grounded here in Sunny (and fairly disliked at the moment world wide) Alberta.

What an amazing city with the most awe inspiring nautral parks of most any city I have ever visited. This in itself is why I stay. All these shots were taken 5 minutes from my door minus the deer from Nose Hill.

We are very blessed in the provence and city to have the landscape we do. Makes you really see what is worth respecting, worth fighting for.

Imagination and spirit ignite with just a few steps from my front door.

What a Blessing.

It's not Noro

I found a treat in Zellers (Yes, Zellers) the other day. It looks like Noro Silk Garden, It sort of feels like Noro, it even knits up much like Noro. But, it is not Noro. It is BERNAT. More then Half off the price, machine washable and does not squeak even though it totes a 100% Acrylic fiber content.

I am having fun making a no pattern drop stitch scarf. This among a small selection of other projects on the go such as a real Noro Retro sweater in the pattern of Klaralund. Actually, this is self admittedly the second attempt at this lovely sweater. The first was a fail that turned into a giant pillow that was also a fail and it did not keep shape. I was using a super heavy acrylic blend though. I decided on attempt two to use the correct fiber.

Domie, my little star, picked his own yarn for a cute top down striped sweater I am designing on the cuff. SO far so good. Hooray for soft washable wool.

So, I suppose my knitting hiatus is over, though, my yarn addiction I am proud to say has ceased to dominate. I made a policy of one project stash between every purchase. Ok, I have one stash on needles and the other two new additions, but, who;s really counting:)

A dog's life....

Back on the May long weekend this year we acquired a sweet little Italian Greyhound. At first she was so darn skittish and down right "weird" we feared she may never take to our little family.
She was a challenge to all I have known about dogs. Actually I was quite certain that she was a cat from a previous life trapped inside this little dogs body. Her behaviours challenged all I know about any breed of D.O.G.
For instance: She can use a kitty litter. She actually meows and rubs against your legs upon entering the house. She Curls up in your lap and will stay there even in the presence of other fellow dogs. Did I mention she Meows? Oh, i did but I will mention it again...THIS DOG MEOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, luck would have it that after 3 months of exposure to our crazy eclectic bunch she has come out of her "Identity Crisis" and is beginning to truly embrace the doggyness. Yesterday she finally ventured into the Bow River all on her own accord. I was so thrilled to see her lapping up river water and splashing just a little bit. She is still, of course, a total pre-madonna. She hates to get dirty. Nothing is better then having a 6 pound puppy with many pointy extremity's leap hap=hazardly into your lap at the first sign of a large dog or two ready to shake their fur clean of the great outdoors. This was just my experience yesterday and rather then worry about wet dog in the car I had to dry myself off.

However, the tail is now a curly cue, the smile so associated with Greyhounds has appeared and a permanent sense of belonging has now graced the pointy mug of my little Gracie dog.

Our zoo really is complete:)
